Pipe, Pack, Laz, and Arrow weapons
With the fall of civilization in 2077 the manufacturing machine that produced cheap, high quality products for all Americans ground to a halt and in the last two and a half centuries it has never quiet recovered. High quality steel is not something that people manufacture now with great consistency and shell casings are something that have to be hand made now rather than produced at large scale factories, recycling is the norm here as new weapons and gear have to be salvaged from the remains of older gear.
With that in mind many old and archaic weapons have risen again to fill the voids that manufacturing’s demise has left. Pipe guns are ubiquitous in most regions, with civilizations making weapons by hand out of old pipe, wood, and screws that can chamber the rounds they have and can make rather than just hunting for ammo for the guns they have. Muzzle loaded firearms have risen in some remote regions in big ways as the tools for creating powder and ball have become easier than machining the casings required for many modern firearms and often fill the role required as well as any normal firearm would. Laser weapons often recieve some of the greatest modifications as their small, fragile internal parts and once state of the art external housings often need to be replaced with hardier and more common materials. This has led to many Laz Muskets floating around the 275, their more fragile parts replaced with sturdier if less refined parts to handle the rough and tumble environments they are often found in. Finally bows and crossbows often come back in a big way especially among the Kentucky Tribals and other highly isolated communities outside The Loop. Here access to even Pipe weapons is often limited by scarcity and has led many of these peoples to build bows & arrows or modify firearms too far gone to ever fire again into crossbows capable of firing ammo more easily manufactured in their resource scarce environments.
